'MINDS | EYE'

‘We work in the dark. We do what we can. We give what we have. Our doubt is our passion, and our passion our task. The rest is the madness of art.’ ― Henry James, The Middle Years

About the event

‘MINDS|EYE’

MDA ART is delighted to present a collection of works from some of the most engaging and emerging young artists today. The works exhibited by these artists are a reflection of these extraordinary times we have all lived through during this past year.

After a year (and what feels like a lifetime) after the world first locked-down, learning to navigate through uncertainty has become an art form in itself. There are moments that needdocumenting, a social commentary, an artistic explosion, a way to share such histories with future generations. The works respond to the theme of isolation that reflect the artists experience of lockdown.

Many of the bold and unique works explore and embody the feelings of uncertainty, isolation, loneliness, observation, nature, connection, family, friendship, loss and love.

All of us of have had our own individual experiences of living through the pandemic and associated lockdown. Unable to leave our spaces, and uncertain to what the future holds, we are all left to explore the world the only other way possible –through art.

Art bring families, friends and communities together through shared experiences. It articulates the issues and debates gripping the national psyche. With art we can reflect, and connect, it inspires us, comforts us, enlightens us and gives us perspective. It is as though art could provide shelter from the daily anxiety and ultimately art is a source of hope and helps people to understand their place in the world.
